He saw her phone lying on the edge of his desk, almost like she'd left in hotel room on purpose. His fingers hovered over it. Maybe there was something some trace she forgot to erase, a crack in her plan. He opened the call logs first. Nothing. Too clean. She'd wiped it all out. She had thought this through.
He moved to her inbox. It was locked. A passcode stood between him and whatever she was hiding. He tried once. Then again. Wrong. A warning popped up: One more failed attempt will lock the app for 24 hours. He sat back, letting out a slow breath.
